SYSTEMS

Since our inception in 1995, Trace has been providing complete, turn-key CEM systems made up of both the hardware (e.g., probe, umbilical, cabinet/shelter, analyzers) and software (DAHS) portions of the system. We provide both direct as well as dilution extractive, depending on the needs of the application.

For the past 10 years, Trace has also been providing Predictive Emission Monitoring Systems (PEMS). This has enabled us to provide a complete and objective solution governed by the client needs and application specifics.

Trace provides customized CEMS and PEMS to meet the needs of each specific application. Our systems provide a seamless, fully integrated and supported solution to comply with your stack monitoring requirements and complemented with our certified regulatory-compliant Data Acquisition and Handling System.

From upfront regulatory evaluations of client air permits by our resident experts to system design, fabrication, pre-shipment testing, on-site installation support and oversight, commissioning, startup, and operator training, Trace ensures a trouble-free, fully compliant solution. With a team of experienced field-support personnel, Trace also provides ongoing support, both on-site and remote. Our clients remain well served for years after system deployment.

CEMS

A complete system is typically made up of the following:

  • Stack Mounted Probe
  • Stack Mounted Flow Monitor and Opacity Monitor, as required
  • Heated Sample Umbilical
  • CEM Cabinet and/or Shelter
  • Sample Handling/Control System
  • Analyzers for Parameters such as NOx, CO, CO2, O2, NH3, SO2, THC, and Opacity
  • PLC/Data Logger
  • PC(s) along with Data Acquisition and Handling Software (DAHS)
  • Commissioning, Startup, and Operator Training
  • Guarantee of RATA Certification
  • Ongoing PM and Unscheduled Support Services and Spare Parts

Trace provides both cabinet and shelter-based designs as required. And we use the highest-quality components to ensure the best reliability and long system life. In fact, Trace recently replaced the very first CEMS we ever supplied – after 21 years of service!

We use quality component suppliers, including:

    • Universal Analyzers
    • M&C Products
    • O’Brien
    • Technical Heaters
    • Hoffman, EKTO
    • Shelter One
    • Thermo Environmental
    • California Analytical
    • Servomex
    • Siemens
    • Allen-Bradley

PEMS

The Predictive Emissions Monitoring System (PEMS) from Trace Environmental, Inc. enables users to fully comply with continuous stack monitoring requirements using only a PC and software. This solution is a lower-cost/no maintenance alternative to traditional CEMS, guaranteed to be fully compliant and to pass RATA certification.

And because Trace provides both CEMS and PEMS, we offer an objective opinion on which methodology is best for your specific application.

Using a single computer, we couple the industry-proven, statistical hybrid PEMS data engine with our WebDAS2K DAS for monitoring, alarming, storing data and reporting. This approach eliminates the hardware and maintenance costs associated with traditional CEMS; no longer is there a need for probes, sample lines, CEM cabinets, gas analyzers, PLC’s, solenoid valves, or calibration gases. PEMS is a low-risk, low-cost approach to meet your air compliance regulatory requirements for continuous stack monitoring. The annual savings in maintenance costs, spare parts, and operator time repeat year after year.
